Let me start off by writing that this post, part 2 of the Twilight Event, was almost never going to see the light of day and be buried somewhere deep in my storage hard drive. If you read my previous part 1 then you know it was really, and i mean REALLY, dark once the sunlight faded away, and the flood lights available at the track, or the lack of, really didn't do much other than light up a tiny spot of the tarmac.
This is the most photos I've ever worked on for a single publication in a short time span of a few days after the event, and this is in-between heavy midterm exams, side projects, and life obligations. However, there's good reason for this and It's because Vtec Club has seen a lot of new drivers, new supporters, and of course, fast new cars, so i had to do this moment some justice.
Some of the fastest and dare i say it, ballsiest, drivers came out to play during the August 19, 2017, Vtec Club USA round 5 Twilight event, and it was definitely another night event for the books. Starting at 4 pm sharp, advanced drivers all the way down to the beginner class began putting down their hot laps before the sunlight would completely vanish under the desert sky.
It is Sunday, March 26th in beautiful Rosamond California, and the official kickoff day for Vtec Club USA’s 2017 season. The all-Honda time attack event that is known to bring FUN track days wherever they go, and trust me, they always deliver the FUN. As a Vtec Club participant for nearly a full year, and the newly appointed photographer for the 2017 season, I can thoughtfully say that there is no other event like this one. With a completely sold out round one, the air was filled with excitement and the feeling of an inevitable good-time was something no one could help but feel.
I've had the great pleasure of knowing Robert Choo of Chewerks Garage for a little under a year now, and i'm grateful i got to know him on and off the track. Like many long time race enthusiasts hitting the circuit for track time, i was in need of an exceptional alignment from a knowledgeable technician. Above all, i wanted to find an individual that actually had track experience and knew the "hidden secrets" of optimal grip versus speed in a Honda chassis
I wish i had more to write for everyone, but i'll be honest, this was my first Super Lap Battle event that i have personally attended. Therefore, i was there as an enthusiast / fan and i was soaking in the moment. Listening to all the built motors rumble, watching the time attack beasts flying by, and searching for small and neat details in each and every automotive masterpiece that we call track toys (war machines if you're a geek like me).
Yup, i'm going to say it, it's better late than never. Photography and blogging is not a job but a hobby, so there's times when i can't get to a set of photos to rush out for the next blog. Subsequently, i realized i wouldn't and shouldn't rush out posts. Why? Well, i am and will forever be my own colossal criticizer across the board. I always look for imperfections within "perfectly exceptional" work.
