Honestly, who wouldn't love watching a pack of extra small "mini-vans" ripping it out on a time attack battle! When i got invited to an event named "Fit and Friends" and realized it was basically a group of Honda Fit driver's out racing, i was all over it, and boy i'm glad i attended. let's say it was a private event, although it was really an open track day hosted by Extreme Speed, because it sounds more exclusive and official. However, it's a group effort between friend's that wanted to race together with their Fits, and in my opinion, it was a huge success. Great competitive vibes, but with smiles and enthusiasm that you only see in small "grassroot" type events. Feelings that you only experience in an environment where everyone is pushing for their limits, to beat out their closest friends in time, but laugh and smile about it at the end of the day. Don't get me wrong, i love and frequently crave professional level racing, but seeing small and equally competitive events between everyday people is flat out inspiring. Likewise, it's events like these that remind me of why i love racing; to have fun with family and friends. I mean if you're not having a blast in your underpowered, or heavily overpowered track toy, then what's the point of racing?
Did i emphasize the "Friends" part in Fit and Friends? As far as i know, anyone can partake in this event. Though having a fit would make it much more exciting.
Like previously stated, a family friendly event. I hope when i have little rugrats of my own, they'll come out with "big papa" to cheer me on. Maybe i can get one to pick-up karting!
I love a good helmet!
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner of this sweet Fit that is rigged with a very nice half cage. After a few words, i found out the cage was fabricated by a good friend of mine "A.K. from Kbros. Fabrication, who also did my cage for my personal warship. More on A.K. and his shop later!
Thanks for the invite! Can't wait for more Fit and Friends! Until next time....
